Doug was one of the original organizers of our Rear Ends Car Club. We met at his parent's Pontiac/Rambler dealership. Right in the showroom. He is gone but remembered fondly by all of the remaining members. The first to pass, Rest in Peace Doug. ................................more to follow
Doug on the right with his Dad Bill and dughter Carrie. Bill (Doug's Dad) passed on in 2012 and Nan died in 2017.
Doug working on his porsche (not really, wish I had taken a picture of his Orange 59 Pontiac two door or his Orange 65 GTO convertible. That 59 was quite a car. Someone had put in a much larger engine and we drove it over to sacramento to have white spoke rims installed. The fellow welded them up as we waited. He used a coffee can to hold the center spoke assembly against the rim. Very suffisticated process. I have no idea whether they were true or not.
Our memories of Doug as a Rear Ends member
Doug was a good friend during High School, until we ran for the same office. He Won......A clever and achievement oriented teenager, we started being friends during grade school. Many of us lived within 4-5 blocks and hung out together. During Junior High we would bike over to the Arnold's home on Oeste drive. We all would watch Lunch with Soupy Sales and eat our lunch.. Never to eay any of the home made Rock Road candy that Mrs. Arnold had prepared. NEVER! Doug became the 2nd President of the Rear Ends. His business instincts were a huge part of our club's sucess in the Dance business. He later followed his father's footsteps to become one the largest Realtors in Davis.
